The Time Is Now Action Coalition, established by YWCA Bergen County and NJ Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, is comprised of diverse government, business, labor, education, legal, and non-profit leaders working closely with the community to formulate an action plan that supports the wave of people who have stepped forward to say #MeToo.
Our process starts with listening – creating an inclusive forum – both virtual and in-person – where we will document the stories and solutions that our community members have to share.
Please share your comments virtually below and join us at one of our in-person town halls. Workplace harassment and assault are the focus of these town halls.

Hello. I was on of the participants tonight at the time is now Town Hall Coalition event. Being that it was my first event I wasn’t ready to speak in person , but I would like to share many things I wanted to say.
First and foremost having a community that offers support such as Healing Space is so important in our society today . As a survivor , three years ago I lost my voice, self love , confidence and myself. It took me a very long time and a lot of patience to finally start healing , mourn the loss of my old self and merge into this whole new person. Without having the support I received the day of the assault from one of the Healing Space advocates i wouldn’t have seen that light at the end of the tunnel. It is so crucial for a female to find her voice , and to gain it back after it is taken away.
By empowering one another , by offering support and creating more of these communities and groups we send a message to the victims/survivors that their VOICE and their story matter to each and one of us. I believe we all have a purpose and by stepping out and sharing our stories we help others and help ourselves heal.
Moving forward I would like to say that even though I wasn’t sexually assaulted at work , i strongly believe that employees at ANY organization/company should get educated on sexual harassment and not just take a test. There should be seminars / meeting where it is discussed and there should be groups at every company that provides guidance for those who have been Victims. It is crucial in order to continue moving forward.
Lastly I would like to say that everyone’s situation is very unique and how we heal is very different . Having someone to lean on is important in those times , because sharing your story with wrong people will only prolong the healing process. Therefore creating more suppor groups is essential.
Welcome to the Time Is Now Action Coalition virtual town hall. Please share your experiences of sexual harassment, discrimination, and sexual violence, and your ideas for ending them, ultimately making #MeToo obsolete.
