Many people have a goal to “get organized,” but few can describe what that means to them or their reasons for wanting to change.
Life transitions give us many opportunities to change, whether we choose them or not. We choose to leave our homes of origin, go to college, start a career, get married, have children, move, or retire. We may not foresee certain transitions, like getting sick, divorcing, or becoming a surviving spouse.
Creating organizing systems that echo our core values makes navigating these life transitions, and living life on a daily basis, much easier. With every significant life event, we get a wake-up call to pay attention, to reevaluate how we view ourselves, our relationships with others, how we spend our time and money, and how we manage our space.
How do we tap into our core values? One place to start is with one’s spiritual beliefs. Regardless of what faith someone chooses to practice, the concept of making space for blessings is universal. When we start to organize, we start moving around the energy in our homes and in our lives. We start to examine what works and what no longer serves us. When we organize, we give ourselves the room to be who we are, to get closer to the people who are most important to us, and to get closer to G-d. When we organize, we create the space we need in order to bring the blessings we want into our lives.
