September 12, 2018 YWCA Bergen County healingSPACE Clothesline Project on the Green Rescheduled for September 20th
On Thursday, September 20 from 10:00 am-5:00 pm, YWCA Bergen County healingSPACE will host its 25th Annual Clothesline Project on the Green in Hackensack across from the Bergen County Courthouse to raise community awareness of violence against women, men, and children and demonstrate to survivors that they are not alone.
The Clothesline Project on the Green, now in its 25th year, features thousands of t-shirts created by survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, child abuse, and personal violence. Creating shirts promotes healing by providing survivors and their loved ones with an avenue to break the silence. Visitors can participate by creating their own shirts and pledging their support for the community’s anti-violence efforts. The event is free and open to the public.
YWCA Bergen County healingSPACE, Bergen County’s only Sexual Violence Resource Center will be joined by over a dozen diverse partner organizations also committed to raising community awareness, providing resources, and ending violence. Sponsor SUEZ Water North Jersey (mysuezwater.com) provides both ongoing support and volunteers for this important event.
A noon speaker program will feature community dignitaries and partners. Special performances and events will occur throughout the day.
